HDMA Op-Ed: Collaboration Vital to Further Progress on Key Supply Chain Issues

February 8, 2016

Collaboration will continue to be the key to a healthy supply chain in 2016, writes HDMA President and CEO John M. Gray in a new opinion piece published in the January/February issue of Pharmaceutical Commerce magazine. In particular, Gray writes that, “Collaboration has been most evident in the way the supply chain has tackled two of our industry’s toughest issues — traceability and prescription drug abuse.”

The op-ed documents the transformational impact of implementing the traceability law, the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA), while setting the stage for how HDMA and its members will be working with other stakeholders to meet future requirements, including a new pilot project in 2016. Beyond the DSCSA, Gray also outlines HDMA’s collaborative efforts to help mitigate the public health challenge of prescription drug abuse – through legislative solutions such as The Ensuring Patient Access and Effective Drug Enforcement Act of 2015 and its willingness to work with regulatory agencies such as the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
